Supporting transparency in seafood supply chain, Verifik8 takes home first prize in Seedstars Bangko

The startup is set to represent Thailand to Seedstars World event in Switzerland.

Seedstars Bangkok event closed on Thursday with the announcement of Veriki8 as the first winner of the competition, securing their place as Thailand’s representative in the competition’s international chapter Seedstars World in Switzerland.

Coming in second place was eye-wear e-commerce platform Glazziq, followed by healthy food delivery app Indie Dish.


Verifik8 is a software platform to improve social and environmental performance in the seafood supply chain, with the aim of making transparency a reality. The startup won an an all-expense paid trip to Switzerland where it will compete with winners from more than 65 countries.

Nine startups have came out as finalists of the Bangkok chapter. These startups are required to be less than two years old, have raised less than US$500,000 in funding and have a minimum viable product.

During the event, participants are being judged by the likes of Monthida McCoole (Investor Relations at muruD); Muai Porlanee Jeamsaksiri (Principal, Corporate Venture Capital of Digital Ventures); Jun Hasegawa (Founder and CEO of Omise); Thanachat Tangsriwong (Head of Bangkok Office at CyberAgent); Simon Akeroyd (VP of Corporate Strategy at Amadeus); and Nick Feneck (Asia Associate at Seedstars World).


The Seedstars Bangkok aims to connect investors with next generation tech startups. The event is held with the support of Digital Ventures, a subsidiary of Siam Commercial Bank.

“The breadth and depth of ideas and talent in Thailand’s startup ecosystem has been growing by leaps and bounds in the few short years since its inception. The quality of startups emerging from this environment now rivals that of our regional and global peers, and I think Seedstars World is a perfect stage on which to showcase that quality,” explained Polapat “Paul Ark” Arkkrapridi, Managing Director of Corporate Venture Capital of Digital Ventures, in a press statement.

The event also receives support from SCB Digital Ventures, Siam Cement Group, Mitr Phol and Siam Discovery.
